Gravity Enduro is one of the fastest growing formats of Mountain Bike racing. It covers all types of riders, including downhillers, cross-country and trail riders and the State’s best are on their way to Jubilee Park November 17th.
And fresh after securing 2nd Overall in the Enduro World series in Europe, Toowoomba’s Own Jared Graves is set to also race at the State Gravity Enduro Championships November 17th at Toowoomba’s Jubilee Park.
Jared Graves – Toowoomba’s Own and Currently Ranked Number 2 at the recent World Enduro Series
“It’s always awesome to race at home, I train all the time on these trails, and Toowoomba is now getting a bit of a reputation as a Mountain bike hotspot in this part of the country. It’s so good to have the support of the council and an awesome group of people in the club itself that put in hours of their own time for the love of the sport. Enduro is no doubt the booming discipline of MTB racing right now, it’s a true test of the best all-round mountain bike rider, and it’s going to be great to show off our trails on the weekend.”, Jared said.
TMBC Club President – Ryan Myler
“Toowoomba Mountain bike club is thrilled to bring a State Level Championship event to Toowoomba. With the support of the Toowoomba Regional Council, not only have we been able to secure this event but also been able to add new tracks to our existing trail network in time for the big race”, Ryan said
Toowoomba Regional Council’s Geoff McDonald –
“We are excited by the upcoming event and the fantastic Mountain biking facility in Jubilee Park. It’s great to build on the strong relationship with clubs such as the Toowoomba Mountain Bike Club; which continues to bring economic value to Toowoomba and the local businesses”, Geoff said

More than 100 riders braved hot conditions to compete in the The Riders Club (TRC) Extravaganza at Adare over the weekend.
Mini Gravity Enduro:
Saturday saw The Riders Club trial two new disciplines at the property, starting with a Mini Gravity Enduro which saw riders climb to the top of the property before facing the starter for a timed, mostly downhill run over a course thought to take approximately 5 minutes.
First down the mountain, fifteen-year-old Josh Hooton redefined expectations by posting what would be the winning time of 4:19.48.
Chris Maierhofer, the former trails designer at Mt.Coot-Tha and designer of the latest addition to the Adare course posted the second fastest time with 4:22.21 while Toowoomba’s Max Banks-Watson was third with 4:30.69.
After a drink and a breather most riders then faced the starter for the XC Eliminator, which sent small groups of riders out for a high-intensity two-minute race to the flag.
Desperate passing under brakes and a lung-stretching final sprint ensured plenty of excitement for the spectators, and Regency Downs racer Nathan Cowell excelled to transfer through to the semi final stage.
In the four-rider final it was again Josh Hooton who prevailed, while Max Banks-Watson came from behind in the final straight to overhaul respected veteran Kevin Jones in a frenzied sprint to the line, with Loic Fery fourth.

4 Hour Enduro:
Sunday’s 4-Hour Enduro provided an extra challenge for competitors when the mercury hit 40 around the half way point, but while it took some extra management, it dissuaded few and 78 riders took part.
Michael Illing was the winning solo rider and posted a stonking 14 laps of the 5-kilometre circuit to win from Alex Hockey (13) and Tim McNaughton (12).
Winning Mixed pair Aiden Lefmann and Anna Beck also logged 14 laps to win from Leigh Greig and Kylie Maduna (13) and John and Megan Williams (12).
Top Male team was the youngsters of the Mini Me Apollo team with 13 laps ahead of FBS Racing (13) and The Belgian Lions (12).
Jo Rowell was the top female soloist with 11 laps ahead of Hayley Scott and Angela Skirving.
Placid Hills rider Lachlan Carfrae competed in the C Male category and finished fifth with nine laps.
Event coordinator John Pinnell said the new formats trialled on Saturday would be used again. “The Gravity Enduro and XC Eliminator events were big hits with the riders and ran smoothly. And I’m so impressed at the guts shown by the riders in Sunday’s 4-Hour to brave what were very tough conditions.
“In the five minutes before the 4-hour track closure it was over forty degrees and there were still riders, clearly on exhausted legs, pushing to squeeze one more lap in – it’s hard not to be inspired by attitudes like that,” he said.
TRC Members – Andy Ling & Angela Skirving
