The Riders Club Closing Down

Dear TRC Members,

It is time to inform you The Riders Club is not viable anymore. It has been decided that it is time to close our doors.

It has had a wonderful innings and has delivered many fun events over many years but all good things come to an end.

We will honor those memberships that are still current until the end of 2017 but not take any new members as of 17th November 2016.

We wish you all good luck and hope to see many of you out on the trails.

Sunshine Series Race 2 this Sunday 15th May @ Adare

QLD MTBHosted by the Riders Club racing for Round 2 is at Adare Homestead. A private track, the Sunshine Series is one of a handful of opportunities throughout the year to ride here. Regulars to the Sunshine Series will be aware that Adare allows camping at the homestead the night before the race with the paddock open from 2pm.

Please note that there are also some slight modifications to the timing for this round. We received some great feedback on round 1 and have made a few tweaks to improve the event in the new format. For details see below.

As usual, Jungle Bean coffee will be there on the weekend and will be giving away 2 Jungle Bean Keep Cups with a refill at each round for the remainder of the 2016 Sunshine Series.

So if you haven’t entered yet, click on the Round 2 link below and enter on-line, entries close at 6pm Saturday 14th May!

2015 Nomad Sunshine Series XC4 – Adare

Race entries close tonight, Friday 17th July! Get your entries in by 8pm or you can enter on the day with the addition of a small fee!

This weekend takes us to Adare for round 4 of the 2015 Nomad Sunshine Series hosted by The Riders Club.

Adare is a fantastic venue nestled amongst the trees on private property, and has played host to several MTB events over the years. The Adare venue has the ability to showcase all styles of MTB course in one location, with rocky sections appropriately named ‘death cookies’, and a wide range of flowy, tight and open single and double track. Short climbs are generally rewarded by fast, sometimes rough descents back to the event HQ, before your off on the next part of the course that averages 4-5km in length.

There are a few categories with some clear front runners for the series particularly in the junior categories. One hotly contested category is the Elite Women with Megan Williams edging out Louise Betts and Jodie Willett for the overall series lead so far.

After some feedback following rounds 1 and 2 we trialed a timed format at Hinze Dam for our “Kids Race Free Categories”. We saw a lot more smiles on faces for many of the young competitors and for the leading riders we saw a lot more grimaces on their faces as they really strove to get “one more lap” each and every lap. Whilst we recognise that this is not XCO format, we feel that overall enjoyment has to be the prime consideration for our younger riders.

Our special thanks goes to all our sponsors, in particular Nomad Mediterranean Bread. With a strong focus on our junior participation in 2015 their sponsorship has been critical to our Kids Race Free program. So keep an eye out for their products in your local supermarket.

Location: Adare Homestead, 583 Adare Road

Queensland XCO Champs and Eliminator Report

Well I’m still buzzing from the XCO Queensland State Champs held at the Adare XC Track. With mother nature trying here hardest to deter the racers from enjoying the supreme track conditions, it was amazing to see over 150 faithful turn up to contest the state title and including some New South Welsh men and women.

The racing was fast and furious and the spectators noisier than a banshee, particularly on the side of the Magic Carpet climb, cowbells where ringing all day long.

But the competition was not just on the race track, with Norco Bikes Australia giving away a 2015 Norco Revolver 9.1 to one lucky early bird entrant and Yakima Racks – Australia giving a Front Loader away.

The prizes and give aways were a plenty with an array of Sol Breads sour-doughs, Axiom Performance Gear, Maxxis Bike Tyres Australia and the local Durham Produce for some amazing vegetable boxes and fuel vouchers!

Thanks to Element Photo and Video Productions for taking the snaps on the weekend, the gallery of images can be found http://gallery.elementphotovideo.com.au/galleries/bike/qldstatechamps2014

And the results courtesy of Timing Results http://my2.raceresult.com/details/index.php?eventid=30555

On behalf of The Riders Club I would like to thank all our sponsors and race committee for without them we would not have been able to hold such a great event and a special thanks to Norco Bicycles Australia for being the headline sponsor and Queensland Mountainbike for all the support for mountain biking in Queensland!
